Fireboat Fun Day

The Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery will hold a fun day on 26 November 2023.

There will be activities designed to introduce the public to the fireboat’s history and to sea rescue services in Hong Kong. The event will be held from 10am to 6pm at the gallery, which is located in Quarry Bay Park. Admission is free.

On the day, visitors can enter the fireboat’s wheelhouse and have their pictures taken with firefighters. They can also join a “Fireboat Then & Now” guided tour led by retired firefighters stationed on the vessel.

Other attractions will include a fireboat water spray demonstration, a fire investigation dog demonstration, and a fireboat badge workshop. Additionally, the Leisure & Cultural Services Department’s Conservation Office will host activities for visitors to understand the boat’s conservation.

Fireboat Alexander Grantham went into service in 1953. Before being decommissioned, it served as the flagship of the Fire Services Department’s fireboat fleet, responding to fire alarms and conducting rescue operations.

Jointly presented by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department and the Fire Services Department, the fun day is part of the Muse Fest HK 2023 programme of events.
